Catch Your Dream:
Drei traumhafte Tage im Campo Bahia

Rahmen

Catch Your Dream: Drei traumhafte Tage im Campo Bahia

————-

It’s been almost half a year since Germany was carried by great euphoria. On the 13th of July, the German national team won the World Cup for the fourth time and wrote history. The success story started a couple weeks earlier, though. The distinctive team spirit, which everybody was swooning over, developed in the extraordinary hotel in which the team stayed during summer, the Campo Bahia. The hotel, 27 kilometers away from the harbor city of Porto Seguro, should also be our home for three days in early December.

You couldn’t have chosen a more idyllic place than Santo André, part of the city Santa Cruz Cabrália. Santo André is naturally separated from the mainland by a river and you can only get there by ferry, which leaves every half hour.

The last kilometers to Campo Bahia are lined by German flags. These were painted on plenty of trees and posts by the inhabitants, alternating with Brazilian flags.

At Campo Bahia you are greeted by an oversized dream catcher. “Catch your dream” is the leading theme of the hotel. The resort is placed in midst the tropical nature of Bahia at a long, fine sandy beach. Once you get to Campo Bahia you right away forget about every day stressors. An oasis at sea, framed by tropical nature. The perfect place to hide from your daily routine and to leave your cares behind.

The innovative concept of the hotel consists of fourteen villas with up to six bedrooms, planned by Brazilian architect Sandro Preit. On the upper floor you have a master bedroom and further, smaller rooms which all include bathrooms and lots of other comfort. In the rooms the motive of the dream catcher is repeating itself.

What is new, is that all parties share a large living- and dining area. During the World Cup the players lived in shared flats in the villas. A concept that now is also open to vacationers. You have the option of staying in your own room or to end the day with other people on one of the comfortable couches in the living room. The concept is especially nice when you’re planning a vacation with friends.

I especially liked the tasteful interior, which was chosen with passion for detail. Interior architect Christiane Hirmer combined indigenous handiwork with design classics and especially put a focus on natural woods. Each room is styled individually and the color concept is very much based on nature. Personally, I would have like to move into our room forever as you feel completely at home in these light-flooded rooms. Don’t even get me started with the incredibly comfortable bed, in which we slept better than everywhere else during our travels. From each villa you have a great view, in our case you could see the beach with palm trees and the infinity of the sea.

Wellness and relaxation are big topics at Campo Bahia. In case you don’t want to stay at the beach for once, you can get comfortable at the pool area or with a book on your own terrace. There is plenty of possibilities for relaxation, a steam bath amongst others. Something special, though, is the yoga area under free sky, with walls made of colorful mini-favelas. Of course you can also find a gym. Working out is always more fun, if you know that once also Müller, Götze and Schweinsteiger trained there. Additionally, the hotel offers many more sports activities for guests.

Every perfect vacation also includes good food, which is prepared by chief of the kitchen Mark-Oliver Elbel in the on-site gourmet restaurant. Every morning guests can expect a rich breakfast buffet with everything you can dream of for breakfast. We feasted for three days and enjoyed the exquisite meals prepared mainly from regional products by the Michelin-star praised cook. I can especially recommend the fish meals. A highlight next to all other beautifully created menus is the in-house drink Campo Bahia, which you can also enjoy as aperitif at the World Cup-bar with view over the pool.

The World Cup-topic is still very present, although half a year has passed already. In the restaurant you find lamps in the form of a football, printed with black-and-white pictures of the team. What may sound kitschy, are in fact stylish accessories blending in with the overall design. Also the set up signs by the national team still show what happened in which villa.

Staying true to the leading theme of the resort “Catch your dream”, Campo Bahia is making vacation dreams come true. We have had three wonderful, very relaxing days in Santo André and if I could decide, I would right away pack my family, Christmas tree (and flip flops!) and spend Christmas in this extraordinarily beautiful atmosphere.
